From that day on, Hachi walked to the train station with Professor Ueno every morning and met his train every afternoon.
从那天起，八公每天早上和上野教授一起步行去火车站，每天下午和他的火车见面。
The Professor knew that Hachi ran home after his train left the station because his house-keeper told him so.
教授知道八公在火车离开车站后跑回家，因为他的管家告诉他了。
Hachi kept himself very busy while the Professor was at work.
八公在教授工作的时候一直很忙。
He cleaned his paws and chased his tail.
它洗净爪子，追逐尾巴。
He sniffed the wind and chewed on sticks.
他嗅着风，嚼着树枝。
He often took long naps in the sun under the cherry tree in the yard.
他经常在院子里的樱桃树下长时间地在阳光下打盹。
But he always woke up in time to return to the station to meet his master's train.
但他总是及时醒来，回到车站迎接主人的火车。
The Station Master checked the time as soon as Hachi arrived.
八公一到车站，站长就查了时间。
"Five minutes to three,"he would announce, looking at the big clock hanging from the station's ceiling.
“差五分钟三点，”他看着挂在车站天花板上的大钟，宣布道。
"Hachi, you are always right on time.I could set that clock by you."
"八公，你总是准时的。我可以帮你调那个钟。”
A year passed, and the Professor's routine did not change.
一年过去了，教授的日常工作没有改变。
He and Hachi walked to the train station in the spring, when the cherry blossoms bloomed,
春天樱花盛开的时候，他和八公走到火车站;
and in the summer, when the rains came.
夏天下雨的时候，他和八公走到火车站。
They walked to the train station in the autumn, when the leaves changed color,
秋天，当树叶变色时，他们步行去火车站;
and in the winter, when the snow fell.
冬天，当下雪时，他们步行去火车站。
The Professor was always the last one to step onto the train before it left in the morning,
早上火车开走前，教授总是最后一个上火车，
and he was always the first one to step off the train after it arrived in the afternoon.
下午火车到站后，他总是第一个下火车。
And Hachi was always there to meet him.
八公总是在那里迎接他。
He was never a minute early and never a minute late.
他从不早到一分钟，也从不迟到一分钟。
And as soon as he saw the Professor, he always ran to his master, licked his fingers,

and spun in joyful circles before him.
