When Hachi stopped spinning, Yasuo called, "Here, Hachi,"and held out his hand.
当八公停止旋转时，Yasuo喊道:“八公，过来。”并伸出手。
The dog looked at the boy and wageed his tail, but he stayed at the side of his master.
狗看了看男孩，摇了摇尾巴，但他还是留在了主人身边。
"Thank you so much for watching him,"the Professor said to the Station Master."It was very kind of you to do me the favor."
教授对站长说:“非常感谢您的收看。”“你帮了我的忙，真是太好了。”
"You are very welcome,"said Mr. Yoshikawa.
“非常欢迎，”吉川先生说。
"Was Hachi any trouble?"Professor Ueno asked.
“八公有什么麻烦吗?”上野教授问道。
Mr. Yoshikawa looked at the dog and lifted his eye-brows.
吉川先生看了看狗，扬起了眉毛。
Hachi looked back at him with his mouth slightly open and his pink tongue hanging out, almost as though he were laughing.
八公回头看着他，嘴巴微微张开，粉红色的舌头耷拉着，几乎像是在笑。
"I do not know if he was trouble,"the Station Master said.
“我不知道他是不是麻烦了，”站长说。
"Hachi left the station a few minutes after your train pulled away from the platform.I tried to catch him, but he ran too fast.
八公离开车站几分钟后，你的火车离开了站台。我试图抓住他，但他跑得太快了。
I asked many people, and searched for him during my lunch hour, but I could not find him. And then out of nowhere"-Mr.
我问了许多人，并在午餐时间找了他，但我找不到他。然后不知从何而来。
Yoshikawa gestured toward the train station's entrance-"he returned just before three o' clock. It is as though he knew when you would arrive."
吉川朝火车站的入口做了个手势——“他三点前才回来。好像他知道你什么时候到似的。”
The Professor looked down at Hachi and beamed.
教授低头看着八公，面露喜色。
Dogs could not tell time. Or could they?"That is most interesting,"he said to the Station Master."I am sorry he caused you so much trouble."
狗不会看时间。还是他们?“这太有趣了，”他对站长说。“我很抱歉给你添了这么多麻烦。”
"There is no need to apologize,"said Mr. Yoshikawa,"because the story has a happy ending."
“没有必要道歉，”吉川说，“因为这个故事有一个美好的结局。”
"I thank you again,"said the Professor, bowing his head. Then he turned to Hachi.
“我再次感谢您，”教授低下头说。然后他转向八公。
"I always knew you were smart,"he said."Now I know you are even smarter than I thought. Little friend, you are the smartest dog in all of Japan."
“我一直知道你很聪明，”他说。“现在我知道你比我想象的还要聪明。小朋友，你是全日本最聪明的狗。”
