This is from Joseph and he says, hi guys, I really love you guys so much. Oh thank you, I love you too.

I've been learning phrasal verbs and trying to memorize them, but doesn't even make any movement.

I guess that might be a translation from this person's native language, but it's not working basically because there are a lot of new phrasal verbs every day.

So do you guys have the tips to learn phrasal verbs, for example using the word off.

Thanks Josephf. Okay, excellent question. Yeah, right.

Yeah, this is a great one and I snatched this up for business because when I was deciding which ones to choose, to teach, I realized that so many of them just really lined up with business English.

So yeah, that's why we're chatting about this over here.

So yeah I mean we love phrasal verb episodes, they are so important and yeah it's just a great way to learn new vocabulary and really get to that next level.

So, you know you can use these outside of the business world, but these are especially helpful in business if you haven't just listen to a few days ago we did episode 300.

Wow, we are Marty at 300 that was Don't be startled by Business English vocabulary. so amazing.

Don't be startled by that or by phrasal verbs, so let's get into it, Lindsay. What's the first one?

All right, so get off. So, basically this means to leave or to exit. Often this is used when you're on the phone. I need to get off, right?

Yeah, what else, Michelle? What else do we need to know about this?

Right, well, it could be used about when you end work, right?

So, for example, I get off of work in 15 minutes, but I still have time for a quick meeting now.

Right, This is really common or I need to get off the phone in a few minutes because the meeting is going to start so you're gonna find yourself using this phrasal verb. Quit often it means to exit. I like the term exit.

I need to exit something. Yes yes, definitely. the next one is log off. Okay, so this is really specific for technology. Right, end your time with technology.

So it's this idea of yeah, also get off exit and this is kind of exit technology so usually with some sort of system, the Internet, something like that, Lindsay, what do you think of this one?

I think this one is super common when you hear people talk about their habits so lately so my partner works in the corporate world and often I'm hearing talk around.

Usually I log off at 3, but then I log back on at 7.

Or if someone's a mom, for example or dad, they might take that gap of time to take care of their kids and then log back on to finish up work later in the evening.

This is often in the cultural conversation right now, especially because people are working from home or independently just getting their work done.

You hear this more and more when people talk about their work habits, when they have their schedule up to them a bit more. Interesting, right.

That's a really good point because like okay, let's say you're working in an actual office and it's the end of the day you wouldn't say"I'm gonna log off" in terms of "I'm exiting", but you would say that if you're working online.

In person you're more likely to say I'm gonna, you know, like oh, I get off right or I get them out at 6. Exactly, exactly.

And so when they say log off, I guess you could be saying you're logging off the system wide like the internet.

Well, I guess if you're at home I just think do they mean Slack? Like they're logging off of Slack?

Or do they mean I think they just mean broadly stopping work, right? But like, what are they looking ? Right.

I think it is kind of broad, but if let's say you are, you could be logging off of something not dealing with ending work, you could be in the office and saying you know, I'm gonna log off and then try and log, well, there's log.

Yeah, I'm gonna try and log in again and see if it works, right.

Like sometimes well there yeah Lindsay, sometimes we've had it where we were, something's not working, we started the recording and it's not working and so we always try, and it's just sometimes our first line of defense is just logging off and then coming back in and seeing.
