The old man now opened the door, and Heidi followed him into a fairly spacious room,
爷爷打开门，于是海蒂跟在爷爷后面，走进一个很大的房间，
which took in the entire expanse of the hut.
小屋就只有这一个房间。
In one corner stood a table and a chair, and in another the grandfather's bed.
屋里有一张桌子和一把椅子，房间一角放着爷爷的床，
Across the room a large kettle was suspended over the hearth, and opposite to it a large door was sunk into the wall.
另一边的屋角是炉子，它上边架着一只很大的锅。而且它对面的墙壁上有一扇大门。
This the grandfather opened. It was the cupboard, in which all his clothes were kept.
爷爷打开这扇门，里面是个壁橱，挂着些衣服，
In one shelf were a few shirts, socks and towels;
另外这个壁橱里还有个放着两三件衬衫和袜子、棉布之类的架子，
on another a few plates, cups and glasses;
再一看，又有一个摆了几只盘子、茶杯、酒杯的架子。
and on the top shelf Heidi could see a round loaf of bread, some bacon and cheese.
最上面的架子里放着一片圆面包和一片熏肉，还有一块奶酪。
In this cupboard the grandfather kept everything that he needed for his subsistence.
阿鲁姆大叔每天生活的必需品全都放在这个大壁橱里了。
When he opened it, Heidi pushed her things as far behind the grandfather's clothes as she could reach.
看到爷爷打开壁橱，海蒂连忙跑过来，把自己的包往爷爷衣服后面尽可能深的地方塞。
She did not want them found again in a hurry.
她不想让人一下子就找到这些东西。
After looking around attentively in the room, she asked, "Where am I going to sleep, grandfather?"
然后，她十分好奇地在房间里左右打量，过了一会儿说：“爷爷，我睡在哪儿？”
"Wherever you want to," he replied. That suited Heidi exactly.
“喜欢哪儿就睡哪儿吧。”爷爷回答。一听这话，海蒂高兴极了。
She peeped into all the corners of the room and looked at every little nook to find a cosy place to sleep.
哪能睡得最舒服呢？她走遍了房间里每个角落，亲自视察了一番。
Beside the old man's bed she saw a ladder.
在爷爷床铺的对面，靠着个小梯子，
Climbing up, she arrived at a hayloft, which was filled with fresh and fragrant hay.
登上去一看，原来是放干草的阁楼。那儿的干草还是刚刚拿进来的，散发着清香。
Through a tiny round window she could look far down into the valley.
透过圆圆的小窗户，可以望见宽阔的谷地。
"I want to sleep up here," Heidi called down.
“我要睡在这儿，”海蒂冲着下边喊，
"Oh, it is lovely here. Please come up, grandfather, and see it for yourself."
“这儿真漂亮！爷爷，上来看看吧，来看看这儿有多棒！”
"I know it," sounded from below.
“我知道。”从下面传来爷爷的声音。
"I am making the bed now," the little girl called out again, while she ran busily to and fro.
“好，现在我来收拾我的床铺！”小女孩又喊了一句，开始忙忙碌碌地干起活来。
"Oh, do come up and bring a sheet, grandfather, for every bed must have a sheet."
“不过不拿来一床被单可不行，床总是先铺上床单，然后才能睡的呀。”
"Is that so?" said the old man. After a while he opened the cupboard and rummaged around in it.
“是吗？”爷爷在下边说。他去壁橱里乱翻了一阵，
At last he pulled out a long coarse cloth from under the shirts.
终于在衬衫之间找出一块挺长的粗布，
It somewhat resembled a sheet, and with this he climbed up to the loft.
那大概就是被单之类的东西，爷爷拿着它爬上阁楼。
Here a neat little bed was already prepared.
放干草的地方已经收拾出一个非常可爱的小床。
On top the hay was heaped up high so that the head of the occupant would lie exactly opposite the window.
头枕的地方垫上了高高的干草，这样一躺下，脸正好是面向敞开的圆圆的小窗户。
