第二章
Shibuya was filled with tiled-roof houses, bordered by a river, and surrounded by large fields.
涉谷到处都是砖瓦屋顶的房子，它们被一条河环绕，周围是大片的田野。
The Professor and Hachi rounded a corner and made their way down a residential street lined with tall keyaki trees, their branches covered with clusters of small yellow blossoms.
教授和八公拐了个弯，沿着一条居民街道走去，街道两旁是高大的树，树枝上开满了黄色的小花。
As they walked along, the road grew wider and a tall Shinto shrine with red wooden gates and a green roof came into view.
他们向前走着，路越走越宽，一个高大的神社映入眼帘，里面有红色的木门和绿色的屋顶。
Many people nodded good morning to the Professor as he passed, and they admired Hachi,
当教授经过时，许多人向他点头问好，他们钦佩小八，
who pranced along beside his master, his pointed ears pitched forward, his curled tail held high.

As the Professor and Hachi neared the train station, the streets grew busier with people rushing along on foot and bicycle.
当教授和八公快到火车站的时候，街上的人越来越多，有的步行，有的骑自行车。
Merchants in dark blue bappi jackets scurried by, pulling large two-wheeled wooden carts stacked high with boxes.
身穿深蓝色八比夹克衫的商人们匆匆走过，拉着两轮木车，车上堆满了箱子。
"Hachi. Sit."the Professor said as they stopped at a corner and waited for a green trolley to pass.
“八公”。坐下。教授说，他们在一个拐角处停下车，等着一辆绿色的有轨电车经过。
Then they crossed the street to the stairway leading up to the train station.
然后他们穿过街道，来到通往火车站的楼梯上。
Hachi lifted his nose and sniffed the air around the food stalls near the steps to the station.
八公抬起鼻子，在车站台阶附近的食品摊周围嗅了嗅空气。
Each stall was decorated with brightly colored paper lanterns, and each sold different things to eat: noodles, tofu, egg and fish boiled in broth, and yakitori.

"The vendors do not open until later in the day,"the Professor told Hachi.

"And you have already had your breakfast, little friend. Come."He hurried up the steps to the train station, and Hachi hurried beside him.
