Professor Ueno took a few steps around the garden, and Hachi followed him, keeping close to his left side.
上野教授绕着花园走了几步，八公紧跟着他，紧挨着他的左边。
"Good dog. Hachi. Sit."
“好狗狗。“八公”。坐下。”
Hachi did as he was told.
八公照做了。
"Now, Hachi. Speak,"said the Professor. Hachi stared at him silently, his head tilted to one side.
“现在,“八公”。说话,”教授说。八公默默地看着他，头歪向一边。
"Hachi. Speak."The Professor repeated the command, but Hachi remained silent.
“八公”。说话。教授又重复了一遍命令，但八公还是保持沉默。
"Wan-wan, wan-wan."Profesor Ueno demonstrated for him, yipping like a young puppy, but Hachi did not respond.
“汪汪，汪汪。”上野教授为他演示，像小狗一样叫着，但八公没有回应。
The Professor changed his bark."Wan-wan, wan-wan,"he repeated in the deep growling voice of a large angry dog.
教授换了口气。“弯弯，弯弯，”他用一只愤怒的大狗低沉的吼声重复道。
Hachi just looked at him.
八公只是看着他。
"All right."The Professor shook his head."It seems you have nothing to say today.
“好吧。”教授摇了摇头。“看来你今天没什么可说的。
And it is time for me to go teach my other students. Come inside."
现在是我去教其他学生的时候了。进来。”
Professor Ueno changed into a suit and tie andgathered his books and papers together.
上野教授换上西装，打上领带，把他的书和论文放在一起。
Then he walked down the hallway to the gentan and put on a pair of leather shoes.
然后他沿着走廊走到绅士酒店，穿上了一双皮鞋。
He left the house, and Hachi followed him to the front gate.
他离开了家，八公跟着他到了前门。
"Hachi. Sit,"the Professor said."What a good dog you are."
“八公”。教授说:“坐。”你真是条好狗。”
He bent down until he was almost nose to nose with the puppy.
他弯下腰，几乎和小狗鼻子对着鼻子。
"What a fine dog you are,"he said softly.
“你真是条好狗，”他轻声说。
"Hachi, you are the best dog in all of Japan."
“八公，你是全日本最好的狗。”
