Tell, Say, Speak and Talk are four commonly confused words, so let's start off simply.
Tell, Say, Speak和Talk是四个常见的易混淆单词,所以让我们从简单的开始讲起。
Talk and Speak are synonyms and can often be used interchangeablely.
Talk和Speak是同义词,经常可以互换使用。
Talk is regular verb and is used with general and usually inform topics.
Talk是规则动词,通常与一般的非正式话题一起使用。
We talked about the new project.
我们讨论了这个新项目。

Speak is an irregular verb and is often used with one-way communication in more formal situations,
Speak是不规则动词,在比较正式的情况下,常用于单向交流,
and to refer to someone's knowledge and language abilities.
它还代表某人的知识和语言能力。
She speaks four languages.
她会说四种语言。
Professor Reid spoke about climate change.
里德教授谈到了气候变化问题。
Let's move on to Tell and Say.

Tell is an irregular verb.
Tell是不规则动词。
It means to give information to someone and is usually followed by a pronoun.
它的意思是给某人提供信息,后面通常跟一个代词。
She didn't tell me her sister was in town.
她没有告诉我她妹妹在城里。
I told you about the movie plot.
我跟你说过电影情节。
Say means to express something with words.
Say的意思是用言语表达某事。
It is also an irregular verb, often used when asking a question and with reported speech.
它也是不规则动词,常用于提问,并与间接引语一起使用。
The construction Said+That is very common but that is sometimes left out.
“Said+That”结构非常常见,但“that”有时被省略。

Tom said (that) Jimmy was sick.
