Nobody mentioned that there was an open-air meat market downstairs from the apartment and lots of open-air fish markets, and so lots of flies would come up to my picturesque Parisian balcony, making it almost unusable for half of the day.

I think that speaks to why I've come to this point of being more interested in hotels than in Airbnbs.

And I think part of that is the cost stuff, too, because when you book on Airbnb or many of these other, you know, Vrbo or some of the other websites of places that you're, you know, booking from a person who takes care of this place, that there's a price that's quoted initially, and then there's the price at the end, as you said, not dissimilar from airlines where there are these fees that are tacked on and this and that and the cleaning and the texts and the -- and all these things that ultimately make it like twice as expensive as it otherwise would be, and oftentimes, like, more expensive than a hotel room.

And I feel like with hotels, they've gotten a bad rap of late, but that I've been finding more and more that, like, you go to hotel, you know you're getting a bed, you know, there's going to be, like, a person who's at a desk at any time of day or night who's going to be, like, able to answer a question or if you have an issue, who's at least going to nominally be able to address it, and that that's important.
