A new cold front will bring more snow to many parts of northern China. The National Meteorological Center forecasts a new round of snow will lash Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia and other northern regions in the next few days.
The latest snowfall in Xinjiang's Altay Prefecture has reported to have lasted more than 60 hours, with snow packing the ground as thick as 60 centimeters. Local fire departments have rescued around 10 vehicles, as more than 20 people who were stuck in snow one meter high for several hours. The heavy snow also resulted in more than 160-thousand farm animals being trapped.
Authorities have staged rescue operations in case of further emergency, including blocking transportation on multiple highways in the region.
