China's Ministry of Civil Affairs has released a report on the development of social services in China in 2015. The report shows the total number of orphaned children across the country reached 502,000 last year. And over 18% of them were under the care of welfare institution.
There are about 480-child welfare institutions and over 270 juvenile protection centers in China. And over the past year, 220,000 household adoptions have been registered in China, including over 190,000 domestic families and nearly 3,000 abroad.
