China's biggest train manufacturer has announced it will build a 600-kilometer-per-hour maglev rail train. While the CRRC Corporation says the first prototype will be ready by 2020. By 2021, it will also build a test line with a length of no less than 5 kilometers.
With a total of over 20,000 kilometers, China has the world's longest high-speed rail network. The current high-speed rail line between Shanghai and Beijing operates at 300 kilometers an hour, only half the speed of the maglev rail line being developed here.
