I hope the economy will get better soon. Here, we have an uncertain economic situation.

Note that John used the verb hope. After the main verb, we have a clause that starts with the noun phrase the economy.

I hope the economy will get better soon. Now let's see another example.

I think the political disagreement will be solved quickly.

Here, we have an uncertain political situation. John uses think as the main verb.

Once again, the main verb is followed by a clause that begins with a noun phrase, the political disagreement.

How might we use phrasal verbs to express uncertainty?

One nice choice is look like, meaning to appear likely.

It looks like my team is going to win the championship.

Looks like suggest that the speaker has formed an idea about the situation.

When you say it looks like something is going to happen, you are saying that you think something is likely to happen even if the situation is uncertain.

Note that the examples we have explored today involve a similar sentence structure, subject plus verb or phrasal verb, plus noun phrase, plus rest of the sentence.
