The Mountains in Labour
山震
One day the Countrymen noticed that the Mountains were in labour; smoke came out of their summits, the earth was quaking at their feet, trees were crashing, and huge rocks were tumbling.
一天人们注意到大山发生了剧烈的震动，山顶开始冒烟，大地在他们脚下震动，树木被震碎，巨石翻滚。
They felt sure that something horrible was going to happen.
他们觉得一定是有什么可怕的事情要发生了。
They all gathered together in one place to see what terrible thing this could be.
他们都聚集在山下，看有什么可怕的事情发生。
They waited and they waited, but nothing came.
人们等啊等，等啊等，什么也没发生。
At last there was a still more violent earthquake, and a huge gap appeared in the side of the Mountains.
最后，又发生了更猛烈的地震，山脉的一侧出现了一个巨大的裂口。
They all fell down upon their knees and waited.
人们都跪下来等待。
At last, and at last, a teeny, tiny mouse poked its little head and bristles out of the gap and came running down towards them, and ever after they used to say:
最后的最后，一只非常非常小的老鼠从缝隙里伸出它的小脑袋和鬃毛，朝他们跑过来，从那以后，他们总是说：
"Much outcry, little outcome."
“雷声大雨点小。”
