Researchers have just confirmed that eating food with low levels of radiation is harmful to wildlife, in this case insects.

Back in 2011— just 3 and 1/2 years ago — a magnitude nine earthquake in Japan triggered a complete meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power station.

It spread tons of radiation into nearby areas.

Researchers fed tainted leaves from the areas to pale bluegrass butterflies and found their lifespan was severely shortened in comparison to butterflies that ate normal leaves.
