In today's podcast, a number of high-level officials reportedly drop out of several executive MBA programsin China, under renewed criticism over fraud and misuse of public funds.
According to recent media reports, several high-level officials have withdrawn enrollment in EMBA programsincluding those offered by Cheung Kong and CEIBS. The course cancellations are said to be tied to a July 31 announcement by the Communist Party's central organization department which stated education fees for officials would come under review. In recent years, the training programs have become popular among officials but they have also become synonymous as a conduit for corruption. Critics say it is difficult to assess how education funds are applied to governance, which are given to officials either through public budgets or even corporate sponsorships.
