1. Ivy: 常春藤。常春藤联盟（The Ivy League）由美国东北部七所大学及一所学院所组成。它们为布朗（Brown）、哥伦比亚（Columbia）、康乃尔（Cornell）、耶鲁（Yale）、哈佛（Harvard ）、 宾州（Pennsylvania）、普林斯顿大学（Princeton）、及达特茅斯学院（ Dartmouth）。
2. Entry: n. 进入，入口。常搭配介词to使用。An entry to the station即“地铁站的入口”。
Entry还可以表示“条目”。如：There are several files, you need an entry for each one. 这里有几个文件，需要为每个文件提供一个条目。
3. Of one’s choice: 某人的选择。You can customize(定做，定制) the clock with any background of your choice. 你可以按照自己选择的不同背景来自己定做你的钟。
谚语"A burden of one's choice is not felt."表示“自己选的担子不嫌重”。
4. Of choice: 特别的，精选的。What is your subject matter of choice when you read? 当你阅读的时候，什么是特别的主题？
5. As of: 自…起。As of now, next steps for the movement are unclear. 到目前为止，这场运动的下一步尚不明朗。
6. Outside world: 外部世界。Living in a countryside tends to insulate us from the outside world.
住在农村会使我们与外面的世界隔绝。
7. Preach: 说教，说道，鼓吹。Where is the democracy and liberalism they preach to the world? 他们向世界鼓吹的民主和自由在哪里呢？
8. Whoo-hoo:语气词，表示高兴、激动、兴奋。
9. Commence: 开始，着手。The performances will commence in a minute. 演出马上就开始。
