Royal couple and baby arrive in New Zealand
He might still be in nappies...but Britain's Prince George starts off his first official trip in Wellington. The eight month old prince touches down with his parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on a three-week tour of New Zealand and Australia. The third in line to the British throne is riding on a wave of popularity. The three royals were greeted by strong winds and rain. Duchess Catherine struggled to keep her hat on, her skirts down and George in her arms as she navigated her way down the plane's stairs in high heels. Her fashion choices are likely to be closely scrutinised during the tour. She arrived here in New Zealand wearing a coat from British designer Catherine Walker with a pillbox hat by Gina Foster. She also wore a silver fern-shaped brooch, a symbol of New Zealand, lent by the Queen. The royal couple were then taken to Government House, the official residence of the governor general, where they received a traditional Maori welcome. Prince George was not present for the outdoor ceremony, which took place under a light rain. He will only be taken to a few specific engagements throughout the trip.
India begins world's biggest general election
Indians begin voting in the world's biggest election. More than 800 million people are registered to vote over the next five weeks. That's 100 million more than at the last elections in 2009.
(SOUNDBITE) (Bengali) SUSMITA DAS, A FIRST TIME VOTER, SAYING: "I am feeling great as I am voting for the first time. I came early to beat the rush at the polling booth, but as you can see there are already quite a few people gathered here."
The election is spread out in nine stages. On the first day of voting, polling is taking place in six constituencies across two states in the north-east - Assam and Tripura. Here in the famous tea growing region of Assam, among the main parties voters must choose from is the ruling Congress or the Hindu nationalist BJP opposition.
(SOUNDBITE) (Hindi) UMESH KUMAR, A VOTER, SAYING: "We have come to cast our vote, as we hope that a good leader is selected who forms a stable government and can provide solution to the problems which the country is facing."
Narendra Modi's opposition BJP party has promised to do just that...to jumpstart a flagging economy and sweep out the Nehru Gandi dynasty. Pollsters predict that Modi and allies will win the biggest chunk of the 543 parliamentary seats up for grabs but will fall shy of a majority. If this happens a coalition government led by the BJP is seen as the most likely outcome. But here in Assam, it's a Congress party stronghold. The result won't be known for some time. The ballot concludes on 12 May and votes will not be counted until 16 May.

(SOUNDBITE) (Portuguese) PRESIDENT OF THE WORKERS UNION, CARLOS ANTONIO FIGUEREDO, SAYING: "It's a really big project that will go beyond the World Cup and the Olympic Games and will go until 2020. But unfortunately the consortium still hasn't noticed that. It seems the work will be done in less time; with the work falling on the backs of workers and without offering them any alternatives in terms of payment."
The consortium responsible for the park, vowed the strike would not impact delivery dates for the first half of next year.
