SECTION 1
Good morning, everyone and welcome to the second session of university orientation.I'm Sarah from Academic Affairs Office. This office is highly associated with your academic life in campus, and it was formally established 30 years ago. Let me tell you what this office can do for you. It could support the work of the faculty, whose teaching, advising, and scholarship brings the academic program to life; for new students, it aims to provide new students with information about course selections. I am sure most of you are concerned about the course selection since you are supposed to choose courses in five days. First of all, courses are listed on our website before registration. You may also find it in our latest course brochure. We encourage you to read course descriptions carefully . We strongly recommend that you consider courses that will push your limits-don't just take comfortable courses. This is a chance to take a risk, try something new and something that you like.
You should pre-select three to four courses that you are interested in taking. Once the registration period has opened, you will register for your program and will select three to four courses that you would be willing to take. Mind you, students will be asked to rank each of their choices in order of preference, first, second, third, and fourth. There is no guarantee that you will get your first choice. You must be willing to accept any of your choices you selected. If there are not three courses that are of interest to you, we suggest that you talk to your advisor and reevaluate your program.
Once registration has closed, all students who have correctly registered by the deadline and have paid in full, will be allocated to their courses. Please note that courses will be assigned based on a random selection, based on your preference once the registration period has closed. Allocation is NOT first-come, first-served. For example, the system will select all students who selected Course Chemistry 101 as their first choice, and allocate randomly from that list until the class maximum enrollment has been reached. Those who do not get Course Chemistry 101 will be grouped with those who have the same second choice, etc.
