This year, the Green Festival is going to be the biggest one we've ever had, so I'm sure everyone will have a good time there. This is the fourth year for the festival and the time is slightly different: for the last couple of years, it's been around the fifth to seventh, but this year we wanted to allow everyone enough time to recover from the first January celebrations and they've put it at the end of the month.
The program has spectacular theatre, dance and also a large number of art exhibitions, but the thing the Festival is most famous for is its street performance, or busking. It it the practice of performing in public place. Street performance could be dated back to ancient times and it occurs all over the world.In our festival,of street performance includes animal tricks,clowning,fire breathing,acrobatics etc. Do you know that fact that Benjamin Franklin,the founding father of America,was a street performer?He composed songs,poetry about the current events and went out in public to perform them.
In our Green Festival,you will find three basic forms of street performance. "Circle shows" are the shows that tend to gather people around.Performers usually have a clear beginning and end. These are done with magicians,comedians,jugglers,and acrobats,and sometimes musicians.Circle shows can be the most lucrative. Some time the crowds attracted can be huge,but a good performer will control the crowd so it won't interfere with the foot traffic. The second type is called "walk-by acts". Performers provide a musical or entertaining atmosphere. There is no distinct beginning or end and the crowds do not particularly stop to watch.The third one is "cafe busking". It is done mostly in restaurants,pubs,bars and cafes. Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan used these places early on in their careers.
