French photographer wounded in Syria dies

French freelance photographer Olivier Voisin was working in Syria when he was hit by shrapnel. He died in a Turkish hospital on Sunday from his wounds. Voisin's friend said they had been hoping to take him to a hospital in Paris but his condition was critical.

Voisin was working for Reporters Without Borders, following the operations of an armed opposition group near Idlib, in northwestern Syria.

South Korea's first female president Park Geun-hye was inaugurated during a ceremony in Seoul Monday. During her speech, the 61-year-old daughter of South Korea's former military ruler Park Chung-hee, spoke plainly about her plans for dealing with North Korea.

A Syrian helicopter shot down by rebels, says the opposition. Reuters cannot independently verify the video, but footage posted online Monday purports to show rebels downing the aircraft over Menagh airport, near Aleppo. And this is what they may have used to bring it down. A rebel fighter from Aleppo's air defense battalion, which claimed responsibility for the attack, says it's a thermal rocket captured from Assad forces.
