1.cancel v．取消；删去，省略，划掉

【记】词源记忆：源自拉丁文cancelli(斜条格钩)，据说罗马书写员在抄写错误时会用斜条格钩状标志来表明删去，后引入英语，作“取消，删去”讲。

【例】Phone meetings get arncelled or reformed and camera-phones intrude on people's privacy.
