A man who claimed to have a bomb in a pickup truck near the Capitol has surrendered to law enforcement after an hourslong standoff. Authorities were searching the truck, which was driven onto a sidewalk outside of the Library of Congress.
Three Albuquerque police officers were shot and another was injured while responding to a robbery Thursday morning. Police Chief Harold Medina says one of the officers was hit in the chest above his vest and is in critical condition.
Hurricane Grace struck Mexico's Caribbean coast just south of the ancient Mayan temples of Tulum early Thursday. The Category 1 storm had already soaked earthquake-damaged Haiti, Jamaica, and the Cayman Islands.
