The U.S. Capitol Hill and the White House were both on lockdown Monday afternoon local time. This came after a shooting incident at the Visitors Center of the Capitol complex left a police officer injured.
Police said the alleged shooter was shot and taken into custody. According to authorities, the incident occurred in the underground visitors center adjacent to the Capitol, where visitors go through security before they tour the Capitol complex.
The lockdown on the White House was soon lifted, but the Capitol complex is still under lockdown.
