A major floods are expected on the Yangtze River this year.
In anticipation of that, the Three Gorges Reservoir is discharging water to make room advance of the flood season.

Last week, the reservoir already saw an inflow of 25,000 cubic meters of water per second, the highest rate since 1992.
In past two months, the reservoir has discharged some 22 billion cubic meters of water to make room for the summer floods.
