The Frightened Lion (A version of the tale by TheFableCottage.com)
受惊的狮子（TheFableCottage.com的故事版本）
One night, Lion is getting ready for bed. He reads his favorite bedtime story and sings his favorite bedtime song. He turns on his night-light.
一天晚上，狮子准备睡觉。他读着他最喜欢的睡前故事，唱着他最喜欢的睡前歌。他打开了夜灯。
Then — he hears a sound... Tap! … Tap! "What's that sound?" he whispers.
然后——他听到一个声音……哒！……哒！“那是什么声音？”他低声说。
Tap! … Tap! "That sound… it's coming from outside the window!"
哒！……哒！“那声音……是从窗外传来的！”
He climbs out of bed. He grabs a baseball bat and tip-toes towards the window.
他爬下床。他抓起一根棒球棒，踮着脚尖朝窗户走去。
Tap! Tap! Tappity-tap! TAP! "It's a monster!" he thinks.
哒！哒！哒哒！哒！“那是个怪物！”他想。
He grabs his bicycle helmet and puts it on his head for protection.
他抓起自行车头盔，戴在头上以防万一。
He hears the sound again... TAP! ... TAP! … Tappity-TAP! Lion panics.
他再次听到那个声音……哒！……哒！……哒哒！狮子惊慌失措。
"The monster is getting closer! It sounds like the BIGGEST, SCARIEST monster ever!"
“怪物越来越近了！听起来像是有史以来最大、最可怕的怪物！”
Tap! ... Tap! ... Tappity-tap! TAPPITY-TAP! TAPPITY-TAPPITY-TAPPITY…. TAP! "EEEK!" Lion squeals.
哒！……哒！ ... 哒哒哒！哒哒哒！哒哒哒哒……哒哒！“哇！”狮子尖叫。
He runs away from the window and hides under the bed. He pulls a blanket over his head.
他从窗户跑开，躲在床底下。他用毯子蒙住头。
He holds his baseball bat tightly in his hands, and…. Tappity tap! ...
他紧紧握住棒球棒，然后……哒哒哒！……
A little frog jumps up on the window sill. The frog is wearing a tutu and tap shoes.
一只小青蛙跳上窗台。青蛙穿着芭蕾舞裙和踢踏舞鞋。
She dances a little dance. Tap tap tappity tap! "Hello Lion! Are you in there?" says the frog.
她跳起了舞。哒哒哒哒！“你好，狮子！你在里面吗？”青蛙说。
She looks through the window and sees Lion hiding under the bed.
她透过窗户望去，看到狮子躲在床底下。
Lion is wrapped in a blanket, wearing a bicycle helmet and holding a baseball bat.
狮子裹着毯子，戴着自行车头盔，手里拿着棒球棒。
He looks ridiculous. (And to be honest, he feels ridiculous too.)
他看起来很可笑。（说实话，他也觉得自己很可笑。）
"Ummm… I have some new dance moves to show you," says the frog. "But you look busy. I will come back later. See ya!"
“嗯……我有一些新的舞蹈动作要给你看，”青蛙说。“但你看起来很忙。我待会儿再来。再见！”
The frog hops down to the ground and happily dances away. Tap-TAP! Tappity-tappity-TAP!
青蛙跳到地上，开心地跳着走开。哒哒！哒哒哒！
Moral: Sometimes our imaginations make things scarier than they really are.
寓意：有时我们的想象会让事情变得比实际更可怕。
