Hey there! Welcome to Life Noggin!

Something I've noticed about you humans is that you love to talk about the weather. Especially when it's not going well.
But, trust me, Earth weather pales in comparison to the weather on some other planets and stars.
To start off, let's take a 600 million kilometer trip over to Jupiter.
Once there, you'd be able to see the Great Red Spot, a high pressure storm that has been raging on for at least 400 years.
And fun fact for ya: the spot is prohibited from moving north to south.
This is because of the jetstreams above and below it, essentially sandwiching the spot in place.
However, it is free to move around side to side between the jetstreams. This Spot is so large that three Earths could easily fit inside of it.
And with winds reaching speeds over 400 kilometers per hour, you definitely want to steer clear of this thing. Yeah, I'm talking to you storm chasers.
But hey, hurricane-like storms are a little too intense. Let's try a planet that just rains instead.
But I should mention, exoplanet HD 189733b doesn't rain water. it rains molten glass. So, yeah, that umbrella won't do you much good. See?
This planet is located 63 light years away from Earth and is considered a Hot Jupiter, meaning it's about the size of Jupiter but much closer to its star than Earth is to the Sun.
Temperatures on this planet can get higher than 900 degrees Celsius, which heats the silicate particles in the atmosphere, potentially giving rise to molten glass rain.
But rain can happen in other places in the Universe too! I mean, take a look at the proto-star called HOPS-68. This star is experiencing what can only be described as "crystal rain."
See, tiny green crystals made of a mineral called olivine are falling down on this star from its surrounding clouds of gas.
The crystals need lava-like temperatures in order to form, so it is likely they form near the surface of the forming star,
were carried out to the surrounding gas cloud, and fell back down to earth like glitter. Really dangerous glitter.
Now, for those of you who hate when the temperature varies dramatically overnight, I have a planet that you should definitely never, EVER, visit.
This is another Hot Jupiter called HD 80606b. Really creative name, guys. And this guy can double its temperature in, wait for it, six hours.
It doubles from about 500 degrees Celsius to over 1,200. This is due to its insanely elliptical orbit.
The planet takes 111 days to orbit around its star and when it is closest to the star, it receives 800 times more light than when it is farthest away.
Think of it like this: imagine you were to go outside after watching this video and the Sun was 800 times brighter than it had ever been before.
Not only would you be amazed, but sadly, you'd also die from the intense heat. Yeah, science! Sometimes it's fun to think about weather on distant planets.
But other times, you need to focus on our own. If you are interested in learning how to save our planet, check out this video.
Most of these come from the Sun and are thus renewable until the Sun swells into a red giant in the next five billion years or so but until then we can harness some of the energy from the Sun using a photovoltaic cell or solar cell.
There's a link in the description if you're on your phone. What would your ideal planet's weather be like?
Let me know in the comments below. Or tell us what we should talk about next.
As always, I'm Blocko and this has been Life Noggin. Don't forget to keep on thinking!
