A recent study on spiders has captured the attention of the internet as it named 16 new spider species after popular singer Jay Chou's songs.
最近一项关于蜘蛛的研究引起了互联网的关注，因为它以流行歌手周杰伦的歌曲命名了16种新的蜘蛛物种。
Published in the scientific journal Zoological Research: Diversity and Conservation, the study focused on taxonomy research conducted at the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The paper introduces six new genera and 16 new species within the Araneidae family, with each of the 16 new species named after Jay Chou's songs.
《Zoological Research: Diversity and Conservation》杂志发表了一篇西双版纳植物园蜘蛛分类研究论文，其中包含园蛛科6个新属、16个新种。16个新种的名字全部来自周杰伦的歌曲。
The paper was led by Professor Mi Xiaoqi from Tongren University in Guizhou province, with Li Shuqiang as the corresponding author.
论文显示，第一作者是铜仁学院的米小其教授，李枢强研究员是通信作者。
Tongren University highlighted that this paper represents the most comprehensive taxonomic work in the last three decades, officially documenting the largest number of new taxonomic units of Araneidae spiders in China.
铜仁学院介绍，该论文是近30余年来，正式发表的描述中国园蛛科新分类单元最多的分类学著作。
This isn't the first instance of Jay Chou's influence reaching the scientific community.
这不是周杰伦的粉丝第一次出现在科学界了。
In 2020, Sun Zhixin, a postgraduate student at the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, named a unique trilobite species dating back 500 million years as "Fantasia Bug," paying homage to the singer's second album. "Jay Chou's music has deeply influenced me. Naming it 'Fantasia' is a tribute to Jay Chou's imaginative and free-spirited musical style. I suppose it's a romantic gesture from a science enthusiast," said Sun.
据报道，2020年，中国科学院南京地质古生物研究所硕士研究生孙智新，把他发现的一种5亿年前的独特三叶虫命名为范特西虫。孙智新表示：“‘周董’的歌对我影响很大，这次用范特西命名，也是向周杰伦天马行空的音乐创作风格致敬，算是一种理科生的浪漫吧。”
