China is expected to need 7,240 new planes in the next 20 years, valued at nearly $1.1 trillion, Boeing stated in its latest market outlook.

Almost 20% of global new airplane demand will be from airlines based in the country, according to Boeing's annual Current Market Outlook.

"China's continuous economic growth, significant investment in infrastructure, growing middle class and evolving airline business models support this long-term outlook," Randy Tinseth, vice president of marketing at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said.

Boeing adjusted China's expected airplane demand higher by 6.3% compared with last year's forecast.
