President Obama intervenes to end Philadelphia transit strike
Get back to work. That was President Obama's order to striking transportation workers in Philadelphia on Saturday night. The move came just hours after nearly 450 workers, who operate the trains that connect Philadelphia to the suburbs, walked off the job. Republican Governor Tom Corbett had asked Obama to intervene. He wanted the president to set up an emergency board to force the two sides back to the negotiating table. Union rep Arthur Davidson says they'll comply with the president's mandate.

ARTHUR DAVIDSON:“我们将有机会向总统紧急委员会表达我们的意见 。”
The workers have gone without a contract since 2009. The main sticking points in talks are wages and pension benefits. The brief strike didn't involve Philadelphia's subways and buses. But nearly 50,000 riders use the affected rail lines on a typical Saturday. Still, the strike could have been more disruptive if it continued into Monday, when many more suburban riders trying to get into the city.
Russia's embassy in Kiev comes under a hail of missiles as protesters vent their anger against Moscow's backing of separatist rebels in east Ukraine. They hurled bricks, stones and eggs at the building. Some witnesses said the Russian flag was ripped up. Several cars which appeared to belong to the embassy were overturned and a metal gate was damaged. There was no attempt by Ukrainian police to intervene. The assault came as Ukraine's president promised tough action against pro-Russian rebels who shot down an army transport plane on Saturday. All 49 servicemen on board were killed. The plane was hit by an anti-aircraft missile at it came in to land at Luhansk airport near the Russian border. It's the biggest toll suffered by Ukraine's government in a single incident since the conflict began. A day of mourning's been announced. The violence comes as talks continue ahead of Monday's deadline for Russia to cut off Ukraine's gas supplies. The European Energy Commissioner said there were signs of progress.

Prehistoric discovery in New Mexico
It certainly isn't what you'd expect to stumble across while strolling along the beach... The fossilized skull belonging to what was a stegomastodon - massive prehistoric elephant. The prehistoric bones surfaced after they were washed up in Elephant Butte beach, in New Mexico. The skull was discovered by a group attending a bachelor party, who saw the bones sticking out of the sand. Gary Morgan is a Paleontologist at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science. He says he's never seen anything like this.
GARY MORGAN / PALEONTOLOGIST, NEW MEXICO MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY AND SCIENCE "This is the most complete of any of them I've found including the younger mastodons and mammoths from the ice age, this is older than that... This mastodon was living drinking feeding alongside the ancient Rio Grande three-million years ago... As we've dug around we haven't seen any other bones, so all the limb bones, the skeleton seem to be missing."
The elephant itself is estimated to have weighed as much as 13,000 pounds. Crews from the New Mexico State Parks and volunteers worked to uncover the skull. What they're able to remove will then be transported to the New Mexico Museum of Natural History. Park officials say the scull may offer more insight into the prehistoric elephant than ever before.
