Husband and Wife Save an Old Man
from Burning House
One evening, my wife and I went out for a meal
at a restaurant near our home.
As we were walking back along our street
we saw some smoke.
It was coming from the first floor window
of a house.
As we walked closer,
we heard a voice.
We looked up and saw an old man.
He was waving from the upstairs window
and he was shouting loudly,
"Help!Help!I can't get down the stairs!"
Now flames were coming out
of the first floor window.
We had to act immediately!
My wife had an idea.
She told me,
"Go and get the ladder from our house."
I ran to our house quickly.
While I was going for the ladder,
my wife called the emergency services.
I brought back the ladder
and carefully placed it against the house.
The old man climbed out of the window
and I slowly carried him down the ladder.
While I was carrying the man down the ladder.
a fire truck and an ambulance arrived.
While the firefighters
were putting out the fire,
two doctors took care of the old man.
