The city of Wuhan is building a large epidemic control base in a bid to improve its response to any future public health crisis. The 16-story building with 800 beds will cover an area of over 120,000 square meters. Construction begins this year and it's expected to be completed in the next three years. The epidemic control base once built, will be mobilized in health emergencies such as a contagion. And in non-emergencies, half of its beds will be used for other less infectious diseases. Now this counts as districts in wuhan are conducting nucleic acid testing on all residents who have not been tested before for COVID-19. The government hopes to track asymptomatic cases after a cluster of infections emerged this month.
