British MPs have voted to reject Theresa May's Brexit deal for leaving the European Union, 432-202. Mrs May called for politicians to back her deal or risk letting the British people down but many of her own MPs joined opposition parties to vote against. The defeat will mean further turmoil for British politics and maintain before the country is due to leave the EU on March 29.
Militants have attacked a luxury hotel complex in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, killing at least seven people and injuring dozens more. The assualt began with an explosion outside a bank and a suicide bombing in a hotel lobby. People were filmed running from the compound after gunfire and blast were heard. The Islamic group Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack. That's the same group that carried out the 2013 Westgate Mall attack when 67 people were killed. People who escaped the hotel described what happened as chaotic.
Moving on the temperature records are being broken in Australia as the country continues to battle through an extreme heatwave. Tarcoola in South Australia hit a staggering 49 yesterday. Port Augusta hit near record high reaching 48.9 degrees. Extreme heatwave conditions are also forecast for NSW and the ACT with farmers concerned the weather is now threatening crops.
The search for a teenager who was swept out to sea in south Adelaide will resume this morning. The 17 years old boy was swimming at Parsons Beach yesterday when he got caught in a rip. The search is proving perilous, a rescue volunteer had to be winched to safety after he became stuck in a cave.
