《新闻写作》是一本介绍新闻报道写作技巧的书，但其实我很推荐所有写作老师和想提高英文写作的同学也好好学习一下。作者Anna McKane以通俗易懂的方式，介绍了如何写出生动、抓人、语法准确的故事以吸引读者。

The cliche that today's newspaper is tomorrow's fish wrapper may not be literally true any more, but the fact is that readers have not paid much for their papers(in many cases they have paid nothing) and their interest has to be won every time by the writer, and by the page designers and headline writers.

这句话的主语the cliche之后跟随that引导的同位语从句，什么样的陈词滥调呢？ that today's newspaper is tomorrow's fish wrapper，今天的报纸是明天的包鱼纸这样的陈词滥调，大家可以想象英国的国菜fish&chips里边的鱼以前就是拿报纸包的，先暂时不看同位语从句，The cliche may not be literally true any more,也就是这样的陈词滥调已经不存在了，之后的转折是句意重点，but the fact is 但事实是什么呢？之后跟随that引导的表语从句，readers have not paid much for their papers，读者没有为报纸付很多钱，括号里的补充说明当中they指代的还是readers，在很多情况下，读者甚至是没有付任何钱的。之后是and引导的表示并列的另一个事实，and their interest has to be won every time by A，and by B and C，their在这里指代的还是读者，读者们的兴趣必须由三类人所赢得，这里就强调了writer作者、page designers版面设计师，headline writers标题撰写者这三类人要努力争取到读者的注意力。这句话意思是：虽然今天的报纸成为明天的鱼包装纸的陈词滥调可能不再存在了，但事实是，读者们并没有为他们的报纸付出太多（在许多情况下，他们一分钱都没花），他们的兴趣必须每次都由作者、版面设计师和标题撰写者来赢得。

这句话给我们的提示是写作、或者演讲、或者做自媒体短视频时，如果你想抓住人的注意力，应该把最重要、最精彩的部分放到最前边说，否则你的观众就会无情的划走。
