如何表达期望和惊喜(下)

Hi, Faith. What's on your mind today?

嗨,费思。你今天在想什么?

I was thinking about our previous video--the one in which we explored expectation.

我在想我们之前的视频——在那期视频中,我们探讨了期望。

"Faith actually said that."

“费思确实是这么说的。”

That's right, I'm still mad about that.

没错,我还在为此而生气。

That's right. The adverb "actually" has an important role in that sentence.

没错。副词“actually(实际上)”在那句话中起着重要的作用。

If you had only said "Faith said that", you would have still shown that you were surprised or disappointed.

如果你只说“费思这么说过”,你仍然会表达出你的惊讶或失望之情。

But by adding the adverb "actually," you made the statement stronger.

但通过加上副词“actually”,你的陈述就更有力了。

Listen again: "You said that." Basic statement.

再听一遍:“你这么说过。”基本陈述。

"You actually said that." Stronger statement.

“你确实是这么说的。”更有力的陈述。

That's right. And here, we meet a connection point between grammar and speaking.

没错。在这里,我们遇到了语法和口语的交叉点。

When we use adverbs to express surprise, we often stress them.

当我们用副词来表示惊讶时,我们经常重读它们。

In other words, we say them louder or in a higher pitch.

换句话说,我们会说得更大声,即音调更高。

This change in pitch draws the listener's attention to the adverb.

音调的变化会引起听者对副词的注意。

So, if I said, "You're still mad about that?"

所以,如果我说,“你还在为那件事生气吗?”

You can tell that I'm expressing surprise because I use the adverb "still" and I place stress on it.

你可以听出我很惊讶,因为我用了副词“still”,并重读这个词。

The next time you hear Americans speak, pay careful attention to how they use words such as "even," "actually" or "still."

下次当你听到美国人说话时,要仔细注意听他们是如何使用诸如“even”、“actually”或“still”之类的词语的。

Make note if they place stress on these words.

注意他们是否重读这些单词。

And when they do, you will know that they have a special meaning.

当他们重读这些单词的时候,你会知道他们有特殊的意义。

And that's Everyday Grammar.

以上就是今天的《每日语法》。
