The artist who had created the sculpture was next to address the crowd.
雕塑的创作者是第二个讲话的人。
"Many of you have been curious about what I have been doing for the past year,"he said.
他说:“你们很多人都好奇我过去一年所做的工作。”
"You wondered why no noise came from my studio and why no supplies were carried in or out.
“你想知道为什么我的工作室里没有噪音，为什么没有物料进进出出。
This is because I had to prepare myself for the great task I was given."
这是因为我必须为赋予我的伟大任务做好准备。”
He gestured toward the statue, still hidden from view under its cloth.
他指了指那座仍然藏在布下看不见的雕像。
"I needed to sit still for many, many hours, just as Hachiko sat, in order to understand him and appreciate him,"the artist said.
“我需要像八公一样一动不动地坐上很多很多个小时，才能理解和欣赏他，”这位艺术家说。
"Only after I had experienced enough stillness and solitude did I feel ready to begin.
“只有在我经历了足够的寂静和孤独之后，我才觉得自己准备好开始了。
And then I knew at once exactly what to do."
那时候我立马就知道该怎么做了。”
Finally Mr. Yoshikawa spoke.
最后，吉川先生发言了。
First, he thanked everyone who had donated money to build Hachiko's statue.
首先，他感谢了所有为八公雕像捐款的人。
"Without each and every one of you, this would not be possible,"he said, spreading his arms wide.
“没有你们每一个人的捐赠，这是不可能的，”他张开双臂说。
Then he motioned for Yasuo to join him.
然后他示意Yasuo加入他。
"I would like to present Yasuo Takahashi,"the Station Master said to the people standing on the platform.
站长对站在月台上的观众说:“我想介绍一下Yasuo Takahashi。”
"He was a great friend to Hachiko, and I am sure he has something to say."
“他是八公的好朋友，我相信他一定有话要说。”
Yasuo stood still and looked at the Station Master.
Yasuo站着不动，看着站长。
Mr. Yoshikawa nodded, and motioned again.
吉川点了点头，又做了个手势。
"They are waiting, Yasuo,"Mr. Takahashi whispered to his son.
“大家在等你发言呢，Yasuo，”高桥小声对儿子说。
"Just say what is in your heart,"Mrs. Takahashi added.
“就说你心里怎么想的吧。”高桥太太补充道。
Yasuo took a deep breath, stepped in front of the statue, and bowed his respects to the crowd.
Yasuo深吸一口气，走到雕像前，向人群鞠躬致敬。
