  • A Fox once saw a Crow fly off with a piece of cheese in its beak and settle on a branch of a tree.

  • "That's for me, as I am a Fox," said Master Reynard, and he walked up to the foot of the tree.
  • “这是给我的,因为我是一只狐狸。”狐狸先生说着走到树下。
  • "Good day, Mistress Crow," he cried.
  • “你好,乌鸦小姐,”他喊道。
  • "How well you are looking today; how glossy your feathers; how bright your eye. I feel sure your voice must surpass that of other birds, just as your figure does; let me hear but one song from you that I may greet you as the Queen of Birds."
  • “你今天气色多好啊;你的羽毛多有光泽啊;你的眼睛多亮啊。我敢肯定,你的声音一定比其他鸟儿都更好听,正如你的身材比其它鸟儿都好那样;让我听你唱一首歌吧,我会把你当作鸟中之王的。”
  • The Crow lifted up her head and began to caw her best, but the moment she opened her mouth the piece of cheese fell to the ground, only to be snapped up by Master Fox.
  • 乌鸦抬起头,开始放声歌唱,但就在她张开嘴的那一刻,奶酪掉到了地上,不料竟被狐狸先生叼走了。
  • "That will do," said he.
  • “行了,”他说。
  • "That was all I wanted. In exchange for your cheese I will give you a piece of advice for the future. Do not trust flatterers."
  • “这就是我想要的东西。用来换你的奶酪,我给你一个关于未来的建议。不要相信拍马屁的人。”

狐狸与乌鸦

A Fox once saw a Crow fly off with a piece of cheese in its beak and settle on a branch of a tree.

有一次,一只狐狸看见一只乌鸦嘴里叼着一块奶酪飞走了,然后停在了一根树枝上。

"That's for me, as I am a Fox," said Master Reynard, and he walked up to the foot of the tree.

“这是给我的,因为我是一只狐狸。”狐狸先生说着走到树下。

"Good day, Mistress Crow," he cried.

“你好,乌鸦小姐,”他喊道。

"How well you are looking today; how glossy your feathers; how bright your eye. I feel sure your voice must surpass that of other birds, just as your figure does; let me hear but one song from you that I may greet you as the Queen of Birds."
