The movie is based on the novel Flipped. It tells the story of two eight-graders who start to have feelings for each other despite being totally different.

Probably what most people enjoyed about this movie was that the events that happened in the movie might as well have been their realities.

Many people have also experienced a real crush.

或许很多人能从这部影片里看到曾经懵懂的自己，还有那份很单纯的心动，能找到共鸣。小时候看只觉得男女主挺浪漫的，现在重温才发现，这部影片也记录了他们在家人的引导下的成长。

Juli的爸爸教会了她，观察一个人，整体是大于部分的。

在Juli迷恋Bryce的时候，她提到了好几次：It was those eyes, something in those dazzling eyes. 他的眼睛让我晕眩，深陷其中。

So when Juli's dad asks her what she likes about Bryce, Juli says, "I guess it's something about his eyes or maybe his smile."

Juli对爸爸说她喜欢Bryce或许是因为他的眼睛，或是笑容。

爸爸却反问他："And what about HIM?" 那你喜欢 他 什么呢？Juli就被问懵了。

Her dad says,

You have to look at the whole landscape. 你应该看一整个全局。

A painting is more than the sum of it's parts. A cow by itself is just a cow. A meadow by itself is just grass, flowers. And the sun picking through the trees, is just a beam of light. But you put them all together and it can be magic.

一幅画的整体效果远比局部重要。一头牛只是一头牛，一片草地本身只是长满了花和草，穿过树丛的阳光仅仅只是一束光线，但是当你把他们组合在一起，它可以变成奇迹。

也正是爸爸的这段话才启发了Juli，让她意识到仅仅因为局部就认定了一个人是不够的。就像我们还小的时候可能也很容易因为对方好看的笑容、眼睛、背影，甚至只是刚好哪天ta穿了身好看的衣服就被吸引，长大后才发现评定一个人要观察的东西还有很多很多。

Juli's father also teaches her how to say goodbye to something she really loves.

Juli loves climbing up on a large sycamore tree to see the view of the whole world. She can even stays there a whole day long. But then one day, the tree is cut down by a group of landscapers so a house can be built there.

Juli一直很喜欢爬到那棵梧桐树上，享受那种能看到全世界的感觉。她甚至可以在上面呆一整天。可后来建筑工却把它砍了，因为那块地要建房子。

在树被砍的那天，Juli待在上面不肯下来。爸爸爬上来告诉她说：It's time, Juli, it's time. 到时候了。Nothing is worth risking my daughter's safety.

Later he gives Juli a painting of the tree.

爸爸没有像其他人一样恐吓她下来，而是说，没有什么值得让我女儿的安全有风险。还亲手画了一幅梧桐树的画，送给女儿。

后来每每Juli心情不好就会看着那副画，回忆当时看到的整个世界。

Sometimes you have to say goodbye, because just like Juli's father says, "it's time." But the memories between you and your beloved ones will last forever.

就像我们也总有需要和喜欢的事物或人告别的时候，有时候不得不，但记忆会是永存的。

而和率真果敢的Juli性格完全相反的Bryce，总是不敢表达内心真实的想法。

明明厌恶Juli曾经一直缠着自己，却从不拒绝；明明不会吃Juli送的鸡蛋，却不敢告诉她而选择偷偷丢掉；明明很气愤朋友嘲笑Juli的智障叔叔，却只能笑着附和。

Bryce is always afraid of offending other people, so he doesn't dare to speak out the truth. Until one day, his grandfather comes to him and says,

You know, Bryce... one's character is set at an early age. I'd hate to see you swim out so far you can't swim back.

直到某天他外公跟他说，一个人的个性往往是在很小的时候就成型了。我不想看到你在错误的方向远游了出去，回不了头。

Bryce不理解。爷爷继续解释道：

It's about honesty, son. Sometimes a little discomfort in the beginning...can save a whole lot of pain down the road.

有时开始的一点不舒服，能够避免未来充满痛苦的道路。

听完外公这段话，Bryce才开始改变自己，开始勇敢跟Juli示爱,开始敢为了维护Juli跟兄弟翻脸，敢追到Juli家敲窗户，甚至敢在他们家草坪种下了一颗小梧桐树。

也正是很想念自己已故妻子的外公，让Bryce知道，遇到了对的人，就不应该错过。

那段很经典的台词就是外公说的：

Some of us get dipped in flat some in satin some in gloss. But every once in a while you find someone who's iridescent. And when you do nothing will ever compare.

有的人是浅色的，有的人是缎色的，有的人是带光泽的，但偶尔，你会发现彩虹般的人，这时候，什么也比不过她。

韩寒后来的翻译也很经典：

有人住高楼,有人在深沟,有人光万丈,有人一身锈,世人万千种,浮云莫去求,斯人若彩虹,遇上方知有。
