which is a big part of identifying sentence patterns.

Unlike action or helping verbs,

Linking Verbs show a relationship between the subject of a sentence and a noun or adjective being linked to it.

Linking Verbs are often verbs of the senses: taste, touch, feel or smell.
系动词经常是感官动词，如taste， touch，feel 和smell。
What does that look like?
它是什么样子的？
Well, think about the sentence: I feel happy.
想一个句子：I feel happy.（我很开心）。
The pattern is Subject+Linking verb+Subject Complement.
它的句型是主语+系动词+主语补足语。
Here the Linking Verb is "feel" and "happy" describe the Subject.
这里的系动词是“feel”，“happy”描述主语。
I thought the verb TO BE is a Linking Verb.
我认为TO BE也是系动词。
Forms of the verb TO BE are often Linking Verbs, but there are other common Linking verbs as well.
TO BE形式的动词通常是系动词，但也有很多普通的系动词。
Like, appear, become, feel, grow, look, remain, taste, seem, smell, and sound.
比如appear（显得），become（成为），feel（觉得），grow（渐渐变得），look（看起来），remain（保持），taste（尝起来），seem（似乎），smell（闻起来），sound（听起来）。
If you practice, you will become a pro.
如果你练习的话，将成为一个职业选手。
The ice-cream tastes delicious.
冰淇淋尝起来很好吃。
That idea sounds good.
那个主意听起来不错。
This jacket feels tight.
这个夹克衫感觉很紧。
You seem more relaxed.
你看起来更轻松。
Those dishes look dirty.
这些餐具看起来很脏。
