The transition of Kate Middleton from middle class beauty to a royal style icon has been studied by billions, perhaps never to a frenzied level though taken by British vogue(时尚;风气).
Next month issue includes facts like these: the average number of teeth the Duchess exposes when she smiles, well it's 8.6. The Duchess of Cambridge's hair has been the topic of much conversation over the years, and the Vogue tells us the average length of wonderful curls is 25 centimeters. For more formal occasions Duchess of Cambridge sometimes dons a fascinators(一种头巾), and the average angle, well, it's 50 degrees.
She is the queen awaiting, and I think there's still, whatever the anti-royals say, there's still a huge amount of interest into the Princess style and she is the living embodiment of it and she is coming off to the Princess Diana, which you know, the world is obsessed with.
There is a bigger picture here, this sort of obsession is translating to real sales. This is an example of Issa dress Catherine likes and she wore a similar one when she announced her engagement. And the dress seems to become a collection of staple, and it was recut in 2011, and sold out in 24 hours. My Wardrobes says Issa sales rise 38% in last season.
And the Duchess does like these LK Bennet new shoes; she is famous for them. LK Bennet reported a 17% increase in gross profits this year. And chief executive Robert DDA, is pragmatic, he told British Vogue that it's wonderful that she likes our product. But we know, she could always move on. Vogue's Emily Sheffield told me the Kate effect isn't guaranteed.
It's great branding for them when she walks out with carrying a Whistle's bag and she is in another waist dress. But I don't think it had a huge impact on that actual day to day sales. But recently it seems becoming the Duchess, you have seen her become much more sort of grown-up, elegant, refined; and she is wearing many more of our British brands.
So the Duchess of Cambridge is starting to become a fashion icon, it seems. But she is not quite at the level of her late mother in law Diana, Princess of Wales.
