TEXT:Campaigning in the battleground state of Iowa, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney goes on the offensive - after the release of a weaker than expected jobs report on Friday. The numbers out of the Labor Department showed the unemployment rate fell to 8.1 percent - but the drop was because less people looked for work. Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney "After the party last night, the hangover today. the jobs numbers were very disappointing. for almost every net new job created approximately four people dropped out of the workforce." The report was released hours after President Barack Obama made his case for re-election at the Democratic National Convention -- dampening hopes of a post-convention bounce. On Friday, the president hit the campaign trail in New Hampshire. U.S. President Barack Obama "We need to create more jobs faster. We need to fill the hole left by this recession faster. We need to come out of this crisis stronger than we went in and there is a lot more that we can do." A recent online Reuters/Ipsos poll gave Romney a 1-point edge over Obama -- with election day 2 months away.

4【Russia pushes Syria peace talks】俄罗斯推动叙利亚和平谈判
TEXT:Syrian government soldiers patrol Aleppo streets devastated by fierce fighting. The conflict here has come to a stalemate, with little ground gained in the daily skirmishes on both sides. Syrians fleeing the conflict say they do not support the rebels or President Bashar al-Assad. Instead, they have called on the international community to step in to end the violence. But on Saturday, Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov said his country refused to support sanctions against Syria. In a press conference at the APEC meeting in Vladivostok, he said sanctions proposed by Western states are becoming yet more wide ranging and will directly hit Russian business. He added that his country would support joint talks between Syria's government and opposition groups. Syria's bloody 17-month uprising has seen tens of thousands killed and many more seeking refuge in neighboring countries.
