German government boosts funding to states for refugees
德国增加资金援助难民
The German government has agreed to make a one-off payment of 4.1 billion euros next year to help its 16 regional states cope with a record influx of refugees, German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced at a meeting of German state governors Thursday.
"The great number of migrants means that we have to offer support to help speed-up the progress. Of course, it was not easy to negotiate the distribution of finances,” Merkel said.
“We, as the German government, have acknowledged that the German states are facing considerable difficulties. We need a fair distribution of the burden between the central government, the states and communities."
