99 Fishing in the Fog
第99课雾里捕鱼

It was a foggy night to be fishing on the coast.
这是一个有雾的夜晚，可以在岸边捕鱼。

The tide had fluctuated twice in the last eight hours.
潮水在过去的八个小时内已有两次涨落了。

Terry could hear a flock of birds flying in the distance.
特里能听到远处成群的鸟在飞翔。

The flora around the beach was thick and thorny.
海滩周围的植物茂密多刺。

The moon was as bright as a fluorescent light.
月亮发出荧光灯似的寒光来，

It made the clouds look fluffy.
使得云彩看上去毛绒绒的。

The waves created white foam on the surface of the water.
海面上海浪激起白色的泡沫。

He could see a turtle floating nearby.
特里能看见那边有只海龟漂来浮去。

Terry was hoping to catch a flounder.
特里希望能捕到一条比目鱼，

He was told that they flourished in the area.
他听说这里盛产比目鱼。

Suddenly, Terry heard the sound of footsteps approaching.
突然，特里听到脚步声，而且越来越近。

His eyes grew wide with apprehension.
他惊恐地瞪大眼睛。

Terry remembered how his football coach would tell him,
特里记得他的足球教练曾这样告诉他：

Sometimes, the best defense is a good offense.
有时，最好的防守就是主动出击。

So in a rather rude tone, Terry exclaimed, Who is it, friend or foe?
于是，他用相当野蛮的语调，大声喊道：谁？朋友还是敌人？

That was spoken with a rather flip attitude, Matt replied.
讲起话来如此无礼！马特回答，

You know it's me. You shouldn't flout our friendship.
明知道是我，你不该无视我们的交情。

Sorry, said Terry.
对不起，特里说，

All this fog has flustered me. Even my glassed are fogged.
周围的大雾使我感到困惑，甚至眼睛也变得模糊不清了。

Every time I heard the water flush through the rocks, I get nervous and confused.
每当我听到海水冲上岩石，我就紧张慌乱。

You're too fluent to ever be flustered, Matt said.

Anyway, the tide is in a state of flux.

That is why the ocean is so rough. Perhaps what you need is a brighter light.

Yes, but I'm out of flashlight batteries, Terry replied. What should I do?

Well, we can start a fire, Matt said.

But there's one problem. We need a piece of flint.
