  • The trees were so thick he couldn't see where Snape had gone.
  • He flew in circles, lower and lower, brushing the top branches of trees until he heard voices.
  • He glided toward them and landed noiselessly in a towering beech tree.
  • He climbed carefully along one of the branches, holding tight to his broomstick, trying to see through the leaves.
  • Below, in a shadowy clearing, stood Snape, but he wasn't alone. Quirrell was there, too.
  • Harry couldn't make out the look on his face, but he was stuttering worse than ever. Harry strained to catch what they were saying.
  • D-don't know why you wanted t-t-to meet here of all p-places, Severus...
  • Oh, I thought we'd keep this private, said Snape, his voice icy. Students aren't supposed to know about the Sorcerer's Stone, after all.

I often hear her sing.
She is often heard to sing.
I often hear her sing.
I often hear her singing.
hear him表示“听见他”,不管是听到讲话,唱歌,读书等,均可;
I have heard of the hero through the press.
I hear from him every week.
I have not heard from England for several months.
要注意的是,在回信时,开首提及收到对方的信,习惯上用receive your letter来代替hear from you
hear from ... that/how等不一定表示“收到……
I have heard from your father that you are in Beijing.
I have often heard you spoken of as a model student.
You can hear something without wanting to, but you can only listen to something deliberately.
I heard him to start the car and drive away quickly.
I heard him start the car and drive away quickly.
I can't let you pay my debts I won't hear of such a thing.
I've only just heard about his dismissal.
I suppose (that) he is about forty.
Suppose he is absent, what shall we do?
Supposing he is absent, what shall we do?
Suppose you come to my house tomorrow morning, and I will show you all my books.
assume, presume, suppose, guess, postulate
