- On about day 14 of the cycle, the follicle ruptures and releases the egg cell.
- 在大约月经周期的第14天，卵泡破裂排出卵子。
- This is ovulation. After ovulation the egg is trapped by the oviduct and transported to the uterus.
- 这个过程叫做排卵。排卵后卵子被输卵管捕捉，运送到子宫。
- The uterine endometrium continues to develop, preparing to receive a fertilized egg cell.
- 子宫内膜继续增厚，为迎接受精卵着床做准备。
- If the egg cell is not fertilized, it degenerates.
- 如果卵子没有受精，卵子会退化。
- The uterine endometrium is sloughed off and discharged through the vagina,
- 子宫内膜脱落，
- along with the degenerated egg and a small amount of blood.
- 和退化的卵细胞、少量血液一起通过阴道排出。
- If the egg is fertilized, which usually occurs between day nine and day 15

- The cycle is stopped and menstruation does not occur.

- Once it is implanted in the endometrium, the embryo secretes human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG).

- This sustains the corpus luteum, which continues to secrete progesterone and estrogen.
- HCG维持着黄体，黄体持续分泌雌激素和孕激素（维持妊娠）。
