Fashion brands Versace and Coach have become the latest foreign brands to spark anger in china over inappropriate marketing. Italian luxury label Versace apologized on Sunday after one of its T-shirts was widely criticized in China for misrepresenting Hong Kong and Macau as separate countries. The controversy started where images of the T-shirt began circulating on Sina Weibo over the weekend. The fashion house apologized and stopped selling the clothing by July 24th. Meanwhile Chinese netizens on Monday criticized American fashion brand Coach for selling clothes that misrepresented Hong Kong as a separate country and labeled Taipei as a city in Taiwan. Chinese model Liu Wen also says she terminated her contract with Coach. The company apologized later Monday saying that he had removed the offending clothes from its official retail channels.
