Lawmakers will only have a few days to pass a spending bill when they return from Easter recess, but at this point, there’s no talk of shutting down the government.
Before the recess, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said appropriations committees had been working on a bipartisan measure that everyone can agree on:
(McConnell) “We are optimistic we’ll be able to work all that out and be able to meet the deadline by the end of the month.”
There could be a fight over money for the proposed southern border wall, but lawmakers may delay that battle until they take up the President’s budget request for the next fiscal year.
