  • We've been talking about all these kinds of gifts that the groom gave to the bride
  • 我们一直在讲的都是新郎送给新娘的各类礼物
  • But the bride also gave gifts to her betrothed

  • And one of the kinds of vessels that she might give was

  • what in Italian are known as Baccine

  • And here you see one that's very very similar

  • From exactly the same period the beginning of the 16th century in Venice

  • It's in the Victoria and Albert Museum

  • It has three little fish which are Christian symbols that are associated with baptism

  • And that's because once again these objects in the painting

  • It was long thought that in the very centre of this

  • When the painting was cleaned in the early 1990's

  • the people in Rome who cleaned it thought that in fact you couldn't see her coat of arms

  • Those are just strokes they could be anything
