- Sentences always have the subject and the verb
- 句子分为主语和动词
- The subject of a sentence is a person
- 句子的主语通常是做什么
- or thing that is doing or being something
- 或是什么的人或事物
- We look for the verb in the sentence, the doing word
- 我们寻找句子里的动词，表示行为的动词
- And then ask who or what it is that the verb relates to
- 然后询问那个动词所关联的事物或人物是什么
- For example, Jim kicked the ball
- 举个例子，吉姆踢了球
- The verb is kicked
- 动词就是kicked(踢了)
- Who kicked the ball? Jim
- 谁踢了球？吉姆
- So Jim is the subject
- 所以吉姆就是主语
- The sentence on screen is also an example of an active sentence
- 屏幕上显示的句子也是主动句的例子
- The doer of the verb is the subject
- 动词动作的实施者是主语
- the person who makes things happen
- 即使事情发生的人
- Jim kicked the ball
- 吉姆踢了球
- But sometimes, we found that the doer of the verb
- 不过有时候动词动作的施事者
- is not the subject of the sentence
- 并不是句子的主语
- The ball was kicked by Jim
- 球被吉姆踢了
- This is an example of a passive sentence
- 这是个被动句的例子
- Why? Because Jim is no longer the focus
- 为什么？因为吉姆已不再是句中关注的焦点

- It can get rather confusing, so be sure to pay attention
