【语法用法】
perform a piano sonata意为“演奏钢琴奏鸣曲”,perform a part in a play意为“在戏剧中扮演的角色”。
错句举例与错句分析
错句: The architects fully performed their obligations.
订正: The architects fulfilled all their obligations.
翻译: 建筑师充分地完成了他们所有的职责。
分析: 不能说成perform obligations
【词义辨析】
perform, conduct, do, execute, fulfil
这些动词均含“做、执行、实施、完成”之意。
perform指完成困难较大、较复杂的任务,较正式用词。
conduct>和perform一样比较正式,二者意义相近,但conduct含指导、领导或监督等意味。
do最普通常用词,指完成某项具体工作、任务,也指完成某种行为或动作。
execute指需专门技术、熟练技巧去完成某种复杂的任务或表演等,也指用行动把计划或打算付诸实施或执行某项命令。
fulfil指履行和实现所许诺的、所期望或要求的事情,含最终完成的意味。
【例句用法】
Lasers can be used to perform operations nowadays.
现在激光可以用来做手术。
That notary is authorised to perform the certain legal functions.
公证人被授权执行某些法律职能。
三.could:[can的过去式]aux.可以, 能 n.罐头v.罐装,<口>解雇
【词义辨析】
1.can, tin
这两个名词均有“罐头”之意。
can为美国英语,现在英国也用。
tin为英国英语。
2.can, may
这两个情态动词均含有“能,可能,可以”之意。
can如果表示体力或智力方面的能力,要用cancan较口语化,比较常用。在表理论上的可能性时,用can,不用may。另外can一般不能用来表将来的可能性,多用在否定和疑问句中表现在的可能性。
may多用于正式文体,含尊敬之意。并且may既可表现在又可表将来的可能性。
【例句用法】
Don't shout into my ears like that, I can hear you perfectly well.
别那样对我大声嚷嚷,我能听清楚。
