有时候result与results可窜用。

句子类型The result is that she become a greater fool than before在口语中常省略句首的the；
as a result of普遍被应用，而as the result则不常用；
with the result后常接that从句。

【错句举例与错句分析】
错句: He must have felt tired and that tiredness may have resulted in him falling asleep.

分析: result in后面跟的him falling asleep不符合语法。
【词义辨析】
1.arise, originate, result
这些动词均有“起源，源自”之意。
arise多与from连用，侧重指从无到有的产生，表一种因果关系。
originate强调产生变化的起源。
result侧重变化的最终结果。
2.consequence, result, effect, outcome
这些名词均含“结果”之意。
consequence多指随某一事件引起的，必然或自然的不良结果，不强调直接的因果关系，而侧重事件发展的逻辑关系。
result普通用词，含义广泛，侧重因某种原因所产生的最终结果，而不是眼前的结果。
effect指因某种原因直接产生的结果，着重持续稳定与其影响。
outcome普通用词，多指事物经过一系列发展变化所导致的最终结局，而不是某种原因的直接结果。常可与result通用。

【词义辨析】
cite, quote, repeat
这些动词均含“引用，复述”之意。
cite指引经据典以示证明或凭据。
quote指不加剪裁的直接引用原文或原话。
repeat仅强调口头或笔头重复别人的话或字句，并不必指明出处。
【例句用法】
He repeated her statement word for word.
他一字不差地重复她的话。
I wish we could see more new programmes on television, not repeats all the time.
我真希望我们能够看到更多新的电视节目，而不是翻来覆去的那几个老节目。
